Maria Sande
Maria is from Bengaluru city in the south of India and is based at the University of Minho in sunny Portugal for her PhD studies. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s in Biomedical Engineering from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands where she discovered her passion for solving problems in the medical field. During her PhD, she will develop materials which can enrich bacteria from samples and also target specific bacteria to simplify the diagnosis of infectious diseases. Her supervisor is Asst. Prof. Lígia R. Rodrigues from the Centre of Biological Engineering, University of Minho.
